Estate & Forest Watch

Plantation audit software India

A planting claim names the trees, the area, the planting date, and the density. Those figures are often passed on before anyone has compared them with the block. Estate & Forest Watch is the audit workspace for that comparison: freeze the claim, set it beside satellite scans and verifier plot visits, and export a hash-stamped pack for a reviewer to sign.

Planting claims rarely meet the ground first

Trees claimed, area claimed, planting date, and density per hectare are the figures a project proponent declares. Spreadsheets and certificates can carry those numbers into a report while the block itself is still unchecked.

Estate & Forest Watch treats that statement as a claim to examine, not as a result. Intake records the four figures and freezes them before satellite analysis starts.

How the audit works

The audit workspace runs one engagement in order. Later phases unlock after the previous action succeeds. The work falls into six steps.

  • Intake — Save the claim, then freeze it as a snapshot stamped with a SHA-256 hash. Import block boundaries as KML or KMZ, or draw them on the work-area map. Keep work orders, planting certificates, tenure references, or third-party audit reports in the document vault. Run GIS validation and a plausibility review once a boundary is in. Draw plantability exclusions for roads, buildings, or water bodies that should stay out of the planting-area calculation.
  • Satellite — NDVI scans and a timeline for the estate. Establish a T0 baseline at the planting date and build a T0–T4 vegetation timeline. In audit mode, only live Sentinel-2 observations are stored. Those readings are observations, not a verified plantation claim.
  • Confidence and risk mapping — After satellite analysis is marked ready, the confidence map fuses plausibility, GIS checks, the T0 baseline, and temporal NDVI into a grade for each block: plausible, uncertain, inconsistent, or no data. Grades are estimations. A risk scan then looks for NDVI drops, growth deviations, confidence gaps, and plausibility concerns, and ranks blocks for review. Risk scores are estimations used to prioritise fieldwork. They are not fraud findings.
  • Field sampling — Generate the plots a verifier will visit. The plan can be risk-weighted, based on area coverage, or a hybrid of both. On a plot the verifier records trees observed, trees alive, canopy cover, GPS, and at least one field photo. The outcome is that the claim is supported on the ground, unsupported on the ground, or inconclusive. Visits can be recorded on the web or from the field queue, including the offline visit queue that syncs from the mobile app.
  • Reconciliation — Compare the claim with what was observed, block by block. The workspace sets the satellite confidence grade beside the field visit for each block and marks the block aligned, a mismatch, or without field data.
  • Export and attestation — Download a signed bundle of the intake, satellite, confidence, risk, and field artefacts. The bundle is stamped with a SHA-256 hash, and its signature can be checked. A reviewer or lead auditor then signs an attestation: approved, conditional approval, or rejected. The attestation hash records that judgement. A re-audit cycle can start after attestation; it archives the current cycle and keeps prior cycles verifiable through those archived hashes.

Evidence labels

Intake uses three labels. CLAIM means declared by the project proponent. OBSERVATION means measured, including satellite readings and field-visit notes. ESTIMATION means inferred, including confidence grades and risk scores.

The system never labels a record "verified" or "fraud". An attestation is a further label: reviewer judgement on the exported pack, not an automated finding. A signed export supports audit preparation. It is not a certificate.

Who the audit is for

Field verifiers record plot visits. Reviewers work through risk, reconciliation, export, and attestation in a read-only workspace, and a full audit workspace covers the whole pipeline.

That workflow is for independent auditors signing a planting claim, CSR funders who need the claim checked before it is reported, and forest, CAMPA, and green-belt teams running an estate watch on cover already in the ground.

What this audit does not do

Aranyix provides audit-prep evidence. It is not a certification body, a carbon credit registry, or a government-approved tool, and it does not issue Verra, Gold Standard, or Green Credit credits. Carbon credit issuance is not part of this monitoring-only scheme. The reviewer's signature attests to their judgement of the pack. It does not certify the plantation.

Frequently asked questions

Does Estate & Forest Watch mark a plantation verified or fraudulent?
No. Evidence labels are CLAIM (declared), OBSERVATION (measured), and ESTIMATION (inferred). The system never labels a record verified or fraud. An attestation is reviewer judgement, not an automated finding.
Can Aranyix certify the audit or issue credits?
No. Aranyix provides audit-prep evidence. It is not a certification body, a carbon credit registry, or a government-approved tool, and it does not issue Verra, Gold Standard, or Green Credit credits.
What is frozen at intake?
The planting claim: trees claimed, area claimed in hectares, planting date, and density per hectare. Freezing stores a snapshot stamped with a SHA-256 hash. A later re-audit keeps prior cycles verifiable through archived hashes.
Do NDVI scans replace the field visit?
No. Satellite NDVI scans and the T0–T4 timeline are observations that feed confidence and risk mapping. A verifier still visits sample plots. Reconciliation compares the claim with those observations per block.
Can plot visits be recorded offline?
Yes. Verifiers record plot visits from the field queue, including an offline visit queue that syncs from the mobile app.
Who signs the attestation?
A reviewer or lead auditor signs the exported pack, with a verdict of approved, conditional approval, or rejected. The signature is their judgement. Aranyix does not turn that signature into a certification or a credit.
